British Open Show Jumping Championships

British Open Show Jumping Championships 2009  - Only 12 days to go!

When: Thursday 16th April - Sunday 19th April
Where: NEC, Birmingham

Over four days you can enjoy:

Show Jumping
Top International riders compete for the richest single class in British indoor show jumping, offering a total prize fund of over £150,000. The best ten British riders are invited including Robert Whitaker who will be competing to defend his title.

Show Jumping Format:
  • Championship classes run every day
  • On Saturday the top twenty riders will be taken forward to the final
  • The British Open Final takes place on Sunday
Additional ShowJumping Classes
  • International Accumulator
  • British Open Puissance (Friday)
  • BEF World Class Development Programme - 2 classes for the UK's top twenty young riders under the age of 23

Indoor Cross Country (Sat)
Riders include Pippa Funnell, William Fox-Pitt and Zara Phillips

Other Competitions
  •  Scurry Driving
The top UK scurry drivers take part in this exciting, high speed sport.
  • Barrel Racing
This is a fast and furious rodeo discipline requiring speed, accuracy and agility, with an exciting final on Sunday to determine the British Open Barrel Racing Champion.

Parelli Zone
There will be a dedicated arena for Parelli this year, with daily demonstrations and seminars.

Displays and Entertainment
  • Jean Francois Pignon
The world famous horseman will provide a new performance for this years event, demionstrating his unique and inspiring display of horsemanship with his beautiful white horses.
  • Metropolitan Police Activity Ride
Eight active Police Officers and their horses will demonstrate their level of skill and agility, which includes jumping through fire.
  • Arena Polo (Sat & Sun)
Top professional arena polo players will compete to claim the Champions title.

  • Celebrity Arena Polo (Sunday)
Katie Price and Amy Guy (AKA Siren from Gladiators) will play in the celebrity arena polo match as Team Captains, to show off the new skills they have learnt for this fast paced game.

There are even more retail stands in the Shopping Pavillion this year, including the Parelli Zone.
